Four lists about the Oriundi and Naturalized players in Azzurro showing their Appearances, Goals and Captained Games together with all the Oriundi who played with two National Teams

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: GK - Goalkeeper, DF - Defender, MF - Midfielder, AT - Attacker.

DESCRIPTION OF ORIUNDI: Oriundo is an Italian word (coming from the Spanish language meaning 'originally from') used both in Italy and Spain to describe an immigrant of native ancestry. It is generally used for football players who were born in Latin America, whose ancestors emigrated from Italy and then immigrates back to Italy. Since its inception in 1905, FIFA requires football players to have either citizenship or close ancestral ties with the country for which they are going to play. Since Oriundi players qualify for the latter it is very easy that such players represent other countries rather than their native country when playing with a national team. This was widely used between the 1920's and 1960's by Italy and Spain, and in the last thirty years it is widely used by other countries, in particular those who have a long history of colonization, like England, Netherlands, France and Portugal (although these players are not always called Oriundi in these countries). Prior to 1964 when FIFA ruled that a player could not represent more than one country in his career, some players played with the National Team of both their ancestral country and their native country. In 2004, FIFA started regulating more clearly this problem by the new 'Eligibility Rules'. Thus today any player who assumes a new nationality and who has not played an international football match (either in full or in part) in an official competition of the current category he is eligible to play, is eligible to play for his new country only if he was born on its territory, or his biological mother / father or grandmother / grandfather were born on its territory, or he has lived continuously for at least five years on the territory of the relevant new association. Friendly match appearances do not commit a player to one country. The word Oriundi started to be used in Italy in the 1950's. Before, these players were called 'rimpatriati', meaning 'repatriated persons'. In pre World War II Italy, the oriundi had automatic dual citizenship thus making it very easy to play with the Azzurri. Today dual citizenship is not automatic any more but like in many other countries, they can acquire citizenship more easily than other immigrants not of native extraction owing to the 'jus sanguinis', meaning the 'right of blood'. Immigrants not of Italian extraction and native Italians who happen to be born abroad are not considered Oriundi. Oriundi players are not called Italian players but Italo + the name of their native country, example Italo-Argentine or Italo-Brazilian.

Players in RED are Naturalized players.

DESCRIPTION OF NATURALIZED: Naturalization is the acquisition of citizenship and nationality by a player who was not a citizen or national of that country when he was born and has no close ancestral ties with the country. Each country has its own requirements to award citizenship through naturalization. In Italy a minimum of five years in residence in Italian territory are required or else a legal marriage to an Italian citizen. FIFA regularize this issue with the FIFA 2004 'Eligibility Rule' that confirms the five year continues residence  on the territory of the relevant new association as a must for a player to play for a new country, together with the fact that has not played an international football match (either in full or in part) in an official competition of the current category he is eligible to play. Friendly match appearances do not commit a player to one country. Thus any foreign player who has been playing in Italy for more than five years or is legally married to an Italian woman, can obtain Italian citizenship (and passport) and if he has not played an international football match (either in full or in part) in an official competition of the current category he is eligible to play, he can play with the Azzurri. However, once he played with the Azzurri he cannot play for the National Team of his native country as per FIFA rule of 1964 when FIFA ruled that a player could not represent more than one country in his career in each category. This means that if a player plays a competitive match with the Under 21 National Team (or any other age category) of his native  country he cannot play with the Italian Under 21 National Team but can play with the Italian Senior National team. Naturalization is widely being used by a lot of countries in particular those who have a high volume of immigration and ethnic groups like Germany, Netherlands, France, Belgium and Sweden. Immigrants of Italian extraction (one of the parents or grandparents is Italian), children of immigrants who are born in Italy and native Italians who happen to be born abroad are not considered Naturalized. One most point out that although totally different, Naturalized players are also called Oriundi in everyday talk in Italy. Thus, Naturalized players, like the Oriundi, are not called Italian players but Italo + the name of their native country, example Italo-Argentine or Italo-Brazilian.
